Achievement Standard 1.6: Read and Show Understanding of Unfamiliar Texts
The NCEA Level One Language Glossary will be place to find the terms/techniques you should be able to identify for this standard.
Here it is, if you have lost your copy from the beginning of the year.
You will need to focus on techniques used in 'Written Texts' e.g novels and short stories, poems or articles and 'Visual Texts'. There will be two written texts and one visual texts. The visual text can be an adveritsement, any poster (e.g. film ), a web page, a page from a comic book... anything which uses both 'verbal' and 'visual' features.
Here is another list of verbal and visual features which will be useful.
Ask a classmate or put up a question on the 'Discussion' page if there are techniques/terms which you don't know.
Go to the 'Discussion page' (see tab above) to check out any discussion topics. Once in the 'discussion page' click on the 'subject' at the top of the page to see the topic for discussion and to make and post your comments.
